Pakistan women's cricket captain Fatima Sana has officially broken the world record for the fastest half-century in women's international T20 history, reaching 50 runs off just 15 balls in a match against Zimbabwe.
Playing at the National Stadium in Karachi, the 24-year-old all-rounder scored 62 runs off 19 deliveries, powering Pakistan to a 133-run victory over the visitors and sealing a 3-0 series sweep.
The previous record of 18 balls was jointly held by Sophie Devine (New Zealand), Phoebe Litchfield (Australia), and Richa Ghosh (India).
Sana began her blistering innings from the first ball she faced, sending it over the boundary. She struck 10 fours and 2 sixes with a strike rate of 326, dismantling Zimbabwe's bowling attack.
Named Player of the Match, Sana helped Pakistan post 223-4 in 20 overs, then took a wicket as Zimbabwe were bowled out for 90 in 17.1 overs.
Fatima Sana has been a standout performer for Pakistan in recent years, significantly improving her batting since taking on the captaincy. She previously scored two half-centuries in ODIs against South Africa, a World Cup finalist.
In her last 10 matches across limited-overs formats, Sana has taken 18 wickets and scored 283 runs.
