Former Brazil midfielder Fabinho has officially joined Trabzonspor on a two-year contract, the Turkish Super Lig club confirmed. He will reunite with his former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah.
According to documents filed with the Turkish stock exchange on Monday, the 32-year-old midfielder will receive a guaranteed fee of €2.6 million ($3.03 million) and a signing fee of €1.4 million ($1.63 million) per season.
“An agreement has been reached for a two-year contract with Fabinho, who is currently a free agent,” Trabzonspor posted on X.
Fabinho joined Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad in 2023 and helped the team win the domestic league after ending a five-year stint with Liverpool.
“It feels really special to play with Salah again... I had the chance to play with him for five years at Liverpool. He is someone I respect deeply for what he has done and what he will do,” Fabinho said after landing at Trabzon airport on Monday.
Speaking about reuniting with Salah, now 34, Fabinho added: “I will always try to do my best with my abilities. Along with the experience and leadership accumulated over years of playing, I will always try to help my teammates.”
Fabinho made 219 appearances for Liverpool, helping the club win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup.
Egyptian forward Salah had also joined Trabzonspor as a free agent earlier this month.
Trabzonspor finished third in the Turkish league last season and will face Hungary's Ferencvaros on Thursday in the second leg of the Europa League playoff, trailing 1-0 from the first leg.
