Russian Ambassador: North Macedonia Provides Military-Technical Aid to Ukraine

Russia’s new ambassador to North Macedonia, Dmitry Zykov, has accused Skopje of providing military-technical aid to Kyiv and leading NATO in per-capita support for Ukraine. He expressed deep disappointment, arguing the moves contradict the true interests of the Macedonian people.
MOSCOW, May 2 (TASS) – In his first interview as Russia’s ambassador to North Macedonia, Dmitry Zykov said the Balkan country’s government has provided military and technical support to the authorities in Kyiv.
According to the diplomat, Skopje’s stance on the Ukraine crisis is shaped by its Euro-Atlantic foreign policy orientation, which is officially declared at multiple levels in the Balkan state.
“The local government believes it can offer Kyiv more than just political backing. Unfortunately, we must note numerous instances of military-technical aid,” Zykov stated. “Moreover, as they often stress here, Skopje leads NATO in per-capita assistance.”
The Russian ambassador said this position causes deep disappointment, not only in Moscow. “I am convinced that these anti-Russian steps do not align with the genuine interests of the Macedonian people, who have never been consulted on this issue,” Zykov emphasized.
