In a statement before the UN Security Council, Iran's Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani warned that the crisis of trust in global governance is becoming increasingly severe. According to him, this decline stems from the failure of many nations to uphold international commitments and multilateral agreements.
Ambassador Iravani stressed that the current trust crisis is weakening global cooperation mechanisms, including the role of the United Nations. He cited agreements such as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear program, which he said had been broken by some Western countries, leading to a profound loss of trust.
The remarks came amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, with nuclear talks at an impasse. The ambassador warned that without restoring trust, global crises will become increasingly difficult to resolve, affecting the security and development of all nations.
He called on UN member states to work together to rebuild trust through adherence to international law and the principles of the UN Charter. The ambassador also emphasized that only multilateral cooperation based on mutual respect can address current global challenges.
