On October 15, in the capital Baghdad, the special envoy of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki held talks with Iran's Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadeq. The two sides focused on discussing measures to enhance bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including economy, security, and energy.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining regular dialogue and close coordination to address shared challenges while advancing the interests of both nations. Envoy Maliki affirmed that Iraq values its relationship with Iran and seeks to expand cooperation within a framework of respect for sovereignty and mutual benefit.
Ambassador Al-e Sadeq, for his part, expressed readiness to promote joint economic and energy projects, as well as to support Iraq in stabilizing security and reconstructing the country. The meeting took place amid a positive trajectory in Iran-Iraq relations, with recent agreements signed in trade and energy.
