Former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to contest a four-year ban for missing a doping test, the top sports judicial body confirmed on Tuesday.
According to a CAS statement, the appeal has been accepted but a hearing date has yet to be set. Vondrousova's ban is set to expire on June 21, 2030, when the Czech player turns 30.
Vondrousova was sanctioned in June after the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) said the Czech failed to provide a sample when notified by a doping control officer during an out-of-competition test at her home in December.
In a statement in April, the 27-year-old said she had "reached her breaking point after months of physical and mental stress" and described the officer's arrival at 8:15 p.m. with a demand for immediate testing as a serious invasion of her privacy.
Vondrousova has maintained she never used doping, and tests conducted three days after the December 3 incident came back negative.
The former world No. 6 has not competed since withdrawing from the Adelaide International in January due to a shoulder injury and has since dropped to No. 153 in the world rankings.
Vondrousova won Wimbledon in 2023, reached the French Open final in 2019, and claimed a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
