Shigeko Kagawa, 115, Japan's oldest citizen, died last weekend in Nara Prefecture, western Japan, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare confirmed on Monday (Aug 25).
News of Kagawa's passing comes as Japan grapples with a rapidly aging population, with the number of centenarians setting new records in recent years.
