Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri condemned recent Israeli attacks on religious sites in southern Lebanon, including a Shiite mosque and a Catholic monastery, urging legal action against Israel and unity among Muslims and Christians.
On May 2, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri strongly condemned recent Israeli attacks on Islamic and Christian religious sites in southern Lebanon. In a statement on social media platform X, Berri emphasized that the Lebanese authorities must take measures against Israel and bring it to justice for the attacks on mosques and churches in the south.
According to Berri, Israeli forces completely destroyed an ancient Shiite mosque near the city of Nabatieh on Saturday (May 1). Earlier, on Friday (April 30), a Catholic Sacre-Coeur monastery and its affiliated missionary school in the town of Yarun were also shelled.
Berri pointed out that these actions were carried out by the same Israeli soldiers who damaged a statue of Jesus in Deir Seryan and previously bombed the main mosque in Bint Jbeil. He called on Muslims and Christians to unite “to expose those who seek to stir religious hatred in Lebanon.”
