In a recent statement, Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf affirmed that bilateral ties between Iran and Iraq, when steered by a clear development roadmap, could play a key role in shaping the landscape of the Middle East region.
Speaking at a meeting with senior Iraqi officials, Ghalibaf stressed the importance of enhancing comprehensive cooperation between the two neighboring countries, spanning economic, trade, security, and political domains. According to him, close coordination between Tehran and Baghdad not only benefits the peoples of both nations but also contributes to promoting stability and peace across the region.
The Iranian Parliament Speaker also argued that building a detailed and transparent cooperation roadmap would provide a solid foundation for the two sides to implement joint projects, while generating positive effects that could ripple out to other countries in the region. He expressed confidence that this strategic partnership would unlock new development opportunities and help address the shared challenges confronting the region.
For its part, the Iraqi side expressed agreement with Iran's perspective, underscoring its desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries and the region's long-term stability.
