Only 26% of Women in Japan's News Industry Say Workplace is Gender-Equal

These results reflect a clear gender disparity in Japan's journalism sector, where women often face greater challenges in career advancement, salary, and recognition. Although the proportion of female workers in the field is gradually increasing, the perception of equality remains low.

Experts say more supportive policies and changes in corporate culture are needed to close this gap. The survey was conducted by Kyodo News and published on June 3, 2026.
