Early on May 1, the Krasnodar regional operations center of Russia announced that the port area in the city of Tuapse had been attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from the Kyiv authorities, resulting in a fire.
The statement on the operations center’s Max channel said: “In Tuapse, due to an attack by a UAV of the Kyiv regime, a fire occurred in the seaport area.”
Authorities confirmed no casualties. To extinguish the blaze, firefighting forces deployed 128 personnel and 41 units of equipment.
Earlier in April, Tuapse had endured a series of UAV attacks targeting port and oil infrastructure. After the attack on April 16, an oil spill occurred, with some oil flowing into a river. On the night of April 28, a fire broke out at the oil refinery. The authorities declared a regional state of emergency in the Tuapse district. Sixty people, including nine children, were evacuated from homes near the refinery and placed in hotels in Tuapse.
On April 29, the open fire was contained. The Krasnodar operations center said on April 30 that a slight increase in benzene concentration in the air was recorded in the fire area. By the morning of May 1, the fire had been completely extinguished, according to the governor of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratyev.
