Today (October 21), the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam, along with the working delegation, departed for India to attend the expanded BRICS Summit held in New Delhi. This marks the first time a senior Vietnamese judicial official has led a delegation to this significant international event, reflecting Vietnam's proactive integration and active contributions in multilateral forums.
According to the agenda, this summit focuses on discussions regarding the role of emerging economies in promoting global growth, reforming international governance systems, as well as security and sustainable development issues. Additionally, bilateral and multilateral dialogue sessions are expected to open new cooperation opportunities in judicial fields, digital transformation, and trade.
Ahead of the summit, the Chief Justice is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with judicial representatives and leaders of some BRICS member countries to exchange experiences on judicial reform, human rights protection, and enhancing access to justice. Vietnam has been invited to attend as an expanded guest, not as an official member of the group.
The BRICS Summit takes place as member countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—are striving to amplify the voice of emerging markets in global institutions. Vietnam’s participation is viewed by analysts as a significant step in its foreign policy strategy of diversification and balancing relations among major powers.
The Vietnamese delegation is expected to deliver speeches and contributions during discussion sessions, and will continue bilateral cooperation promotion activities after the summit concludes. The trip is set to last through the weekend, after which the delegation will return home.
