Indonesian police said they arrested 321 foreigners in a crackdown on illegal online gambling crimes in the capital Jakarta. This is considered one of the largest raids targeting illegal digital betting networks in the country.
According to a police statement issued on Saturday, authorities raided a location suspected of hosting online gambling operations. The suspects, all foreign nationals, are currently in detention pending further investigation.
The operation comes as the Indonesian government intensifies measures to curb online gambling, which is considered a social and financial security threat. Police have not disclosed the identities or nationalities of the suspects.
Jakarta has repeatedly cracked down on online gambling rings in the past, but the scale of this case is unprecedented in terms of the number of arrests.
