This morning, Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Seyyed Abbas Salehi, landed in New Delhi, India, marking the start of his participation in the BRICS tourism summit. The event brings together senior officials responsible for tourism and culture from the emerging economies of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
The summit is being held as BRICS intensifies its push for stronger economic and social cooperation among members, with tourism and cultural exchange seen as key pillars to enhance mutual understanding and drive sustainable growth.
Speaking before his departure, Salehi emphasized the importance of expanding cultural ties between Iran and BRICS nations. His attendance is expected to open new avenues for bilateral and multilateral cooperation in tourism, as well as showcase Iran's rich cultural and touristic potential to the international community.
The summit's agenda includes sessions on tourism infrastructure development, strategies to attract international visitors, and exchanges on heritage management and event organization. Iran plans to propose several concrete cooperation initiatives within the forum.
The visit spans several days, during which Minister Salehi will also hold bilateral meetings with tourism and culture ministers and officials from participating countries, laying the groundwork for future joint projects.
