Spain's Foreign Minister, in an interview with Al Jazeera's UpFront program, strongly criticized the developments in Gaza and Lebanon, describing the current situation as "a disgrace to humanity's conscience."
His remarks come amid escalating conflict in the Middle East, particularly military attacks causing heavy civilian casualties. The minister did not specify which parties were responsible but emphasized the need to protect civilians and uphold international law.
"What is happening in Gaza and Lebanon is an unacceptable stain. The international community cannot turn its back on the suffering of innocent people," he added.
The interview followed weeks in which Spain and several other European countries have called for a ceasefire and increased humanitarian aid to the affected regions. The minister also reaffirmed Madrid's position on a two-state solution as the foundation for lasting peace.
