Iran's Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi on October 14 issued a warning about a hostile plot designed to sow discord within the country. Speaking at a conference in Kerman province, Vahidi stressed that external forces are seeking to exploit differences to weaken national security and unity.
Vahidi did not specify individuals or organizations behind the alleged plot but asserted that the government has gathered information and is closely monitoring the situation. He called on the public to be wary of misinformation and not to be provoked by distorted rhetoric aimed at undermining trust between society and the state.
The statement comes amid multiple challenges facing Iran, including economic sanctions and prolonged socio-political unrest. Previously, other senior Iranian officials have repeatedly warned of psychological and information warfare campaigns they accuse foreign actors of orchestrating.
A political analyst in Tehran suggested the move reflects government concerns over managing public discourse amid domestic expectations for reform. However, Iranian authorities have yet to provide concrete evidence supporting the allegations of interference.
