Araghchi said France, a country with a history of repression and military intervention worldwide, is in no position to teach Iran about democracy and human rights. He stressed that France's interference in Iran's internal affairs is unacceptable and runs counter to the principles of respecting national sovereignty.
According to him, France should focus on addressing its own domestic issues, including waves of protests and social unrest, rather than criticizing others. He also urged the French government to change its approach and respect the fundamental freedoms of its people.
The statements came after France and other European nations condemned Iran over its crackdown on recent protests and human rights violations. Iran has dismissed these accusations as interference in internal affairs and lacking any basis.
Relations between the two countries have significantly deteriorated in recent years, especially after the U.S. withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal and reimposed sanctions. Iran has also ramped up uranium enrichment beyond permitted limits, raising concerns among the international community.
