Amnesty International has called on the international community to launch an investigation into the destruction of homes in southern Syria, which the organization says may constitute war crimes.
According to an Amnesty report, Israeli airstrikes and artillery bombardments in recent months have destroyed dozens of homes in the border area, causing civilian casualties. The organization cited witness testimony and satellite evidence, asserting signs of violations of international law.
“Intentional targeting of homes, or indiscriminate destruction of civilian property, may amount to war crimes,” the report states. Amnesty also criticized Israel for failing to prevent attacks that harm civilians.
Israel has not yet issued an official response to the allegations. Earlier, Jerusalem stated that its attacks only targeted military positions of Iran and Tehran-backed armed groups in Syria.
